Balayage is a freehand highlighting technique where the colour is painted onto the hair to give it a natural, sun-kissed gradient effect. The result is a softer, more natural-looking highlight.

Traditional highlights use foils to saturate the hair strand completely, whereas balayage is painted freehand, resulting in softer and more diffused lines.

Balayage tends to grow out more naturally than traditional highlights, so you can expect it to last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on your hair type, colour, and how fast your hair grows.

Yes, balayage can be adapted to suit almost any hair type and colour, whether you have blonde, brunette, or red hair. The technique can be modified to achieve the desired level of brightness and dimension.

Any hair colouring can cause some level of damage, but because balayage doesn’t saturate the entire strand and often doesn’t require lightening to as high a level as traditional highlights, it can be less damaging.
