What is balayage?

How is balayage different from traditional highlights?
Traditional highlights use foils to saturate the hair strand completely, whereas balayage is painted freehand, resulting in softer and more diffused lines.
How long does balayage last?
Balayage tends to grow out more naturally than traditional highlights, so you can expect it to last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on your hair type, colour, and how fast your hair grows.
Is balayage suitable for all hair types and colors?

Will balayage damage my hair?
